Earthquake Mock Drill: Earthquake Mock Drill Conducted in Chandigarh – Emergency Preparedness | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: As per the instructions of the district management body of the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, mock earthquake drills were conducted at five places in the city on Thursday. Various agencies conducted mock earthquake drills at GMSH-16, Old Building of UT Secretariat in Sector 9, Government Postgraduate College in Sector 46, DT Mall in IT Park and Government Model Senior High School in Sector 35. The objective behind the mock drills was to: prepare Students, staff and other agencies for emergency situations such as earthquakes as well as to spread awareness, build preparedness, courage, confidence and enhance capabilities to respond quickly among people. During the mock exercise, various agencies like NDRF, CRPF, Indian Army, Chandigarh Fire Service, GMSH-16 and Chandigarh Police participated. Members of participating agencies directed and assisted in the safe evacuation of students and staff. A medical unit and emergency command unit were also established in the college, school grounds and hospital to treat the injured.
