Through a comprehensive search consisting of thousands of unpublished documents, interviews with survivors and original broadcast recordings, the author tells of Jenny Chance, a part-time radio reporter for KENI, Anchorage, who has been on the air without sleep for nearly two days. Speaking to citizens with transistor radios, she gave a steady stream of information from the public service building that public officials gave her. She has released announcements and reports on search and rescue teams and messages of citizens looking for loved ones and has become Anchorage’s voice to the outside world.
