President Trump has called for international help to secure the Strait of Hormuz, the main transit route that transports much of the world’s oil and natural gas supplies from the Middle East. Iran has attacked ships passing through the strait, as well as attacking facilities and refineries in neighboring countries, causing a major disruption to the world’s energy supply. Fossil fuel prices have soared since the start of the war, fueling fears of a global recession and inflation. Writing on the Truth Social media platform, Trump said: “The countries of the world that receive oil from the Strait of Hormuz must guard that passage… The US will coordinate with those countries so that everything goes quickly, smoothly and smoothly. This was always supposed to be a team effort, and now it will be – it will unite the world towards Harmony, Security and Eternal Peace!” The US president has asked China, France, Japan and the UK to send warships to the region.
