EU agrees to Brexit by 31 January – BBC News
The EU has agreed to extend the Brexit until 31 January 2020, according to a note by the President of the Council of Europe.
Donald Tusk said the block would allow it to be called an “extension extension.” In this way, the UK could leave the agreement before the deadline if Parliament approves.
MPs are preparing to vote on Boris Johnson’s proposals for the early December general election.
The SNP and the Lib Dems have also proposed the election by December 9.
The draft text of the agreement made up of 27 EU ambassadors – as seen by the BBC – also includes a pledge of the UK’s exit from the EU that cannot be renegotiated in the future.
