Hospital waiting lists have set a record for regular treatment in England – BBC News

Waiting lists at regular operating and treatment hospitals in England are on record. More than two million people have to wait more than 18 weeks to see it – and more than 80,000 have waited more than a year. The significant increase in waiting times shows the serious impact that the coronavirus pandemic is having on the NHS. Almost all non-urgent surgeries (such as hip and knee replacements) were stopped in March to make room for Covid-19 patients. Meanwhile, France has had the most recent coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Scotland has imposed tougher restrictions on social gatherings.
