Has the country reached another important moment in its response to Covid-19? The Government’s Scientific Emergency Advisory Group (Sage) – a committee involving scientists from a wide range of fields – predicts that this winter Covid-19 will kill more people in the first wave. It is estimated that deaths may reach a lower level than in the spring, but then remain at a constant level for weeks or even months. But have we become blasé when we are increasing the number of dead? And would we continue the restrictions if a new national blockade was announced in the UK?
