Teen died of Covid on the day he was supposed to be vaccinated
According to her family, a 15-year-old girl from Portsmouth, who tested positive for Covid-19, died on the day she was scheduled to be vaccinated.
Jorja Halliday died at Queen Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday after being tested for the virus four days ago.
Her mother, Tracey Halliday, 40, said the Portsmouth Academy GCSE students were “loved girls,” talented kickboxers, and ambitious musicians.
She said: “She was a loving girl and had a lot of friends.
“She was very active, loved going out and spending time with her friends, and loved spending time with her brothers and sisters.
“When she grew up, she became a beautiful young woman and always wanted to help others.
“It’s painful because your child is always intended to live longer than you, and that’s one thing I can’t overcome,” she added.
Hariday said Giorja’s brother was devastated by her death.
She said Jorja first developed flu-like symptoms before undergoing a PCR test, gave positive results, and was quarantined at home.
Giorja had a hard time eating on Sunday, but by Monday she said she had a sore throat and couldn’t eat at all.
He contacted the doctor who prescribed the antibiotic, but said he was taken to the hospital after seeing the doctor that his heart rate was twice as high when Jorja’s condition worsened.
Mr. Holiday said:
“They forgave me for it. I’m out of the blue to understand what happened. I’ve been with her all the time. They have the opportunity to heal her body. I tried to put her on a ventilator.
“Her heart rate wasn’t stable. Her heart couldn’t stand the tension. I think they worked medically, but they couldn’t save her.
She added, “She gave me the best care. I know they did everything they could to save her.”
She said preliminary results from a hospital coroner showed that Giorja had Covid myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart caused by the virus.
Ms Halliday said Jorja had no known underlying medical condition.
Ms. Holiday added: “She was going to jab on Tuesday.
“But she was quarantined because she tested positive on Saturday. At the end of the quarantine period, she intended to get it.
“The day she died was the day she would have done it.”
