5% of CT residents may already have the coronavirus: CDC
The Connecticut — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention antibody study found that as of late May, approximately 5.2% of the state’s population was infected with coronavirus. A study found that approximately 5.8% of women and 4.6% of men in Connecticut were infected.
The CDC says the investigation comes with some caveats. This is not a truly randomized survey as it may not reflect the entire population as it relies on people who have had blood drawn for regular screening or illness visits.
The results reported by CDC are adjusted for false positive and false negative results. They also note that antibody levels may decline over time, and that people who were previously tested positive for the presence of antibodies may be tested negative at some point. doing.
The CDC also warns that this study should not be interpreted in the sense that people who test positive for antibodies are immune to the virus. It’s still unclear how long the antibody lasts and how much protection it gives people.
