Boston-Massachusetts is a rare but serious pediatric hotspot associated with COVID-19 in children.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the state is one of the four most prevalent cases of childhood multisystem inflammatory syndrome. The disease was first discovered a few months ago.
As of Friday, Massachusetts reported 44 cases, of which at least 35 were confirmed, according to the Department of Public Health.
According to health officials, New York reported the highest number of cases with 240 deaths and two deaths as of Friday. Another hotspot, New Jersey, has reported 55 cases. In Maryland, 34 and 1 deaths have been reported.

So far, most cases of new illness have occurred in children aged 1 to 14 years, according to the CDC. The Hispanic and black communities are affected by the imbalance, accounting for about 70% of cases.
Massachusetts, an early national hotspot for coronaviruses, has seen fewer COVID-19 infections, deaths, and hospitalizations since its May and June peaks.
