The United States is approaching an alarming milestone, with nearly 1,000 measles cases in the first two months of 2026 alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The country is experiencing its largest measles outbreak in a generation, with 982 cases already reported in 26 states, more than four times the number at this time last year. South Carolina is the epicenter, with nearly 800 cases and at least 20 hospitalizations since January. Cases are also increasing in Utah, Arizona and Florida, including a cluster at Ave Maria University.
