Coronavirus: Lower levels of anxiety among teenagers during pandemic, study results
One study suggests that adolescents had reduced levels of anxiety during a coronavirus pandemic.
According to a Bristol University survey, 13- to 14-year-olds were less worried during lockdowns than last October.
Researchers surveyed 1,000 high school students in southwest England.
The results were a “big surprise,” they said, questioning the impact of the school environment on teenagers’ mental health.
The results of the survey were provided by Professor Chris Whitty, the UK’s Chief Medical Advisor. I was more likely to be harmed because I didn’t go back to school More than if they caught the coronavirus.

Researchers compared the results of a survey last October with the answers given by teenagers this May. Both girls and boys recorded reduced levels of anxiety during that period.
In October, 54% of girls aged 13 to 14 and 26% of boys of the same age felt anxious.
In a survey in May, a few weeks after the school closed most of its students and the national blockade restrictions came into effect, the rate dropped to 45% for girls and 18% for boys.
The researchers asked nine 1,000-year students at 17 secondary schools in southwest England.
“Big Surprise”
“Natural expectations will see an increase in anxiety as the whole world is at risk of a catastrophic pandemic, disrupting the lives of all,” said lead author Emily. Widnar said.
“We saw some participants’ anxiety levels rise, but it was a big surprise that many found that the opposite was true.”
Widnall questioned how students who felt least connected to school before lockdown had significantly reduced anxiety and how the school environment could affect the mental health of some teenagers. Said he threw.
Dr. Judi Kidger of the University of Bristol said: “Our findings question the role of the school environment in explaining the growing difficulty of mental health among teenagers in recent years.
“As the school reopens, we need to consider ways in which it can better support the mental health of all students.”
There was a 2% decrease in boys at risk of depression and a 3% increase in girls at risk of depression.
The findings are published in the National Institutes of Health Research Institute Report for Public Health Research.
