Two new cases of COVID-19 reported in PEI, active case load increased to 9
Health authorities at PEI reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, saying both individuals had recently traveled abroad and were in self-isolation when diagnosed.
Dr. Heather Morrison, the island’s chief public health officer, issued a statement confirming that the total number of active cases in the state was nine.
One of the new infectious diseases is related to a mandatory male worker in his thirties who arrived in the state on August 28.
Another case is a woman in her thirties who arrived at PEI with her family on August 27.

She is a member of a family that includes two infants under the age of 10 who were previously virus positive.
According to Morrison, all nine active cases continued to perform well and remained self-isolated while contact tracking was completed.
She traveled on four flights with Air Canada between two new cases and four reported Mondays between August 25 and August 28, two of whom arrived on the island. I confirmed that.
Morrison said all passengers on these flights need to be monitored for COVID-19 symptoms.
She said there was no evidence of the spread of COVID-19 to the community on Prince Edward Island, and the risk of transmission within the state remained low.
