Health officials are urging everyone to get a flu shot this year to avoid a “cold.”
Monroe, Louisiana (KNOE)-COVID-19 Medical professionals at the forefront of the pandemic are calling on their families to be vaccinated against the flu this year as they continue to fight the coronavirus. Doctors say they are worried that the hospital will be overwhelmed again because it processes the two viruses at the same time.
This was raised by state health care director Dr. Jimmy Guidley during today’s special legislative session.
“I predicted they would be another COVID spike, which would be the flu season,” Dr. Guidley said.
Jeff Toms, the state’s health ministry’s regional manager, says he has already urged people to get a flu shot to prevent the spread of the disease and cause the so-called “cold.”
“Getting both viruses one after the other can have a significant impact on your health and resilience,” says Toms.
Many signs of the flu are like the symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, sore throat, stuffy nose and stuffy nose, headache and body aches, chills, and malaise. And both viruses are of varying degrees.
