About the American Heart Association:
The six cardiologists who founded the American Heart Association in 1924 will be amazed.
From its humble beginnings, AHA has grown to become the oldest and largest voluntary organization in the United States specializing in the fight against heart disease and stroke. A common focus on cardiovascular health connects more than 33 million volunteers and supporters, and more than 3,400 employees.
Heart disease is the number one murderer in the world and stroke is the number two in the world. Even if these conditions are not fatal, they can cause disability and reduce quality of life. AHA wants to see a world free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
The size and range can actually make an impact. AHA has invested more than $ 4.1 billion in research, more than any nonprofit organization in the United States.
