NB COVID Summary: One New Case at Woodstock School, Halloween Guidance
Woodstock School reports confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The case is at Townsview School, which has about 600 students in grade K-8.
David McTimony, the superintendent of the Anglo-Saxon West School District, confirmed the incident on Saturday. Parents and staff were notified by letter.
Mr McTimony said he could not identify whether the case was a student or an employee.
“We know that the school and district will work together to resolve this situation and respond as needed,” he said.
The school will remain open on Mondays. Public health conducts contact tracing to notify people who need to be self-quarantined and tested.
Townsview is the seventh school in New Brunswick to report cases of COVID-19 and the first school outside the Campbellton region (Zone 5). Woodstock is in Zone 3.
McTimony said communication with public health authorities was successful.
“We are ready for the days ahead,” he said.
The mayor is confident accordingly
Cases of COVID-19 in border areas occur after more than doubling of cases in nearby Maine.

Woodstock Mayor Arthur Slip first heard of the incident at school when contacted by CBC News. He said the state has tightened immigration requirements for visitors from Maine.
