San Diego County Opens Fourth Vaccine “Super Station” in La Mesa
San Diego (KGTV) — San Diego County will open a fourth vaccine, the Super Station, in La Mesa to speed up and increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
San Diegan, which is currently in the state’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution phase, will be able to make reservations starting February 2. La Mesasite will be the walk-up location for Dr. 5500 Grossmont Center at the Grossmont Center Shopping Mall.
Reservations are required for vaccination and are open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. Currently, the county immunizes residents only in the first layers of Phase 1A and Phase 1B.
“We are ready to be shot in the arms of as many San Diegans as possible when higher doses come to the area,” said County Public Health Officer Wilma Uten. “Vaccination is the best defense against COVID-19.”
The location will replace and expand the site operated by Sharp Healthcare on Wakarusa Street. Appointments made to that site will be transferred to the new super station. The site can vaccinate up to 1,000 people per day, but can also be expanded to 5,000 doses per day.
Lamesa hosts the county’s fourth vaccine superstation. Three other superstations have been opened and operate at Petco Park, Chula Vista, and California State University San Marcos in downtown San Diego. The county has also opened small “POD” locations around the area.
