NHS workers remained “betrayed” after urging COVID denials to comply with the rules after Facebook postings were stopped
NHS frontline workers remain feeling “betrayed” after being suspended from the hospital in a Facebook post urging COVID denials to comply with blockade rules.
Gary Oldershaw, 53, a practitioner of the Intensive Theory Unit, said on January 4 after seeing seven patients die during a 12-hour shift at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. Said.
He wrote a long post after seeing a friend sharing a conspiracy theory of the coronavirus.
Oldershaw encouraged people to “stay home and take care of themselves” by listening to medical and government advice.

However, the hospital received an anonymous complaint about the content of the post, including explicit language.
NHS workers said they had been notified on February 7 by the Mid-Essex and South Essex NHS Foundation Trusts that they had been suspended for “disapproving the trust.”
Oldershaw, who retired halfway to help treat a coronavirus patient, said he would never return to the hospital where he had worked for 17 years.
Speaking of Facebook posts, he said he didn’t mention where he worked, but admitted that he didn’t need to use such “colorful words.”
In his post, he writes:
“Listen to what healthcare professionals and the government are telling us for f ***.”
Regarding his suspension, he said: “When I first got suspended, I was skeptical of my abilities. I wondered if I could endanger the patient or someone died on my watch.
“I was worried that I had inadvertently killed someone. When I found out that it was Facebook, it was ridiculous.
“People die every day and we have been at the forefront of saving as many lives as possible.
“I had to see seven people die in one day, so I cried for the first time in my career. The next day, five people died.”

Oldershaw said he felt “completely betrayed” and added, “I put my heart and soul into this work and they hurt me. I will never return.”
He worked as a Surgical Practitioner (ODP) in a hospital for 17 years before retiring last summer.
In December, he returned to the front line to assist the intensive care unit shortly before the second wave of COVID struck and worked for the first time in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Around that time, the Essex hospital declared a “serious incident” after being overwhelmed by COVID-19 patients.
Oldershaw said he didn’t know he was suspended until he started the shift at 8am on the weekend, and the manager told him he had to go home while he was already in full PPE and ready to work. I was told I had to.

A “no evidence” COVID variant of concern was sent in the UK, says Matt Hancock.
After making a phone call, Oldershaw learned that he had been suspended after an anonymous person filed a complaint.
“I was completely angry. I was completely deflated and went home. I couldn’t understand why I was suspended.”
He claimed that he was never consulted or spoken to before the decision was made because they sent him an email notifying him of the complaint to the wrong address.
“This is not what NHS needs. We are in a pandemic and the hospital is overwhelmed. We need as many people as possible to help,” he said. It was.
“They didn’t have to take it so far. I think they were able to talk to me and chat, but instead I was just stopped.”
A spokesman for the Mid-Essex and South Essex NHS Foundation Trusts said, “This is an ongoing investigation and the trust cannot comment.”
