Washington(WVLA) – One week after being confirmed to have a Texas man Monkeypox After traveling abroad, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention monitors dozens of people who may have come into contact with him.
Since the first monkeypox diagnosis in Texas, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has monitored “more than 200 individuals in 27 states and several other countries.”
The patient flew from Lagos, Nigeria to Atlanta, Georgia on July 9, and then to Dallas. He was admitted to a hospital in Dallas.

None of the individuals being monitored are considered high risk and no additional cases have been found so far.
The CDC emphasizes that the risk to everyone else is low.

- lower back pain
- Swelling of lymph nodes
- cold
- Malaise
- Within 1-3 days (and in some cases more) of the onset of fever, the patient develops a rash, often starting on the face and spreading to other parts of the body.
