Alzheimer’s Disease Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funding for Alzheimer’s disease care, support and research. I am joining participants of all ages in the fight against the disease by attending the Portland Walk to end Alzheimer’s disease on October 16th. Our local community.
I lost my mother-in-law to dementia and soon followed both of her siblings with the same terrible illness. We saw how this catastrophic illness affects not only individuals living with the illness, but the entire family. Alzheimer’s Association According to a 2021 facts and figures report of Alzheimer’s disease, more than 6 million Americans, including 69,000 in Oregon, have Alzheimer’s disease.
In recent years, Congress has prioritized funding research on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, which needs to be continued. We hope that Senators Weiden, Markley, and Herrera Butler will continue to support the increase in funding for Alzheimer’s disease research at the National Institutes of Health.
