Covid-19: Coronavirus positive in dog test in the first confirmed case in the UK
Coronavirus was first detected in a pet dog in the United Kingdom.
Evidence suggests that the dog has contracted coronavirus From an owner who previously tested positive for Covid-19.
Infection confirmed by animal and plant tests health Agency (APHA) Institute in Weybridge on November 3rd.
The dog is now recovering at home.
There is no evidence that animals have been involved in transmitting the disease to their owners, or that pets and other livestock can transmit the virus to people.

Veterinary Chief Christine Middlemiss said: “A test conducted by the Department of Animal and Plant Hygiene confirmed that the virus that causes Covid-19 was detected in pet dogs in the United Kingdom.
“The infected dog had been treated for another unrelated condition, but is now recovering.
“Dog is very rarely infected and usually presents with mild clinical symptoms and recovers within a few days.
“There is no clear evidence that pets can directly infect humans with the virus. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and update the guidance to pet owners as the situation changes.”
Dr. Catherine Russell, a UKHSA consultant medical epidemiologist, said: “COVID-19 spreads primarily from person to person, but in some circumstances the virus can spread from person to animal, including before and after contact with animals.”
