UCHealth nurse released from hospital on mechanical ventilation a few weeks later – CBS Denver

Greeley, Colorado (CBS4) – A nurse working at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic was released from the hospital after fighting the virus himself for over six weeks. Deb Hoffman, a certified nurse at UC Health Family Medicine Clinic in Greeley, fought COVID-19 in three regional hospitals and spent more than 17 days on ventilators.

The place where Hoffman infected the virus is unknown. But I couldn’t cough, had a 103-degree fever in April, and knew I needed treatment.

UCHealth says Hoffman was transferred via ambulance to UCHealth Greeley Hospital during the first part of the battle. Eventually they were transferred to the ICU at the Rocky Medical Center in Loveland, where they were placed on a ventilator.

Over two weeks later, she was transferred to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, where she regained her voice and began rehabilitation, including becoming physically stronger.

On Wednesday morning, a staff member who supported the COVID-19 fight for weeks had to say goodbye after being discharged from hospital on a large scale off. UCHealth staff gathered, applauding as she left in line in the hallway.
