Hawaii says all five monkeypox cases are linked
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified all five cases of monkeypox reported in Hawaii. State health officials argued that the overall risk to the public remained low.
The State Department said the five patients were connected, but did not reveal how they were infected with the virus.
“I’m not going to elaborate on this just to protect the privacy of these individuals,” said Katie Arita-Chang, a spokeswoman for DOH.
She said some of the confirmed cases were among gay or bisexual men and the risk of community expansion was low. However, DOH cautioned.
“I would like to emphasize that people exposed to monkeypox are at risk of infection, regardless of who they are, what they do, or whether they are sexually active,” said Chan Arita. I am saying.
