Global Motivational Ministries Helping Afghan Earthquake Survivors

AFGHANISTAN (MNN) – Two weeks ago, the deadliest earthquake in 20 years devastated entire villages and killed more than 1,000 people in eastern Afghanistan. Believers today offer the hope of Christ to earthquake survivors.

“We have people on the ground who provide food and water and help with shelter. We will build houses,” says Reda* of Global Catalytic Ministries.

After struggling to respond, the Taliban are now urging foreign aid groups to help. “We worked through them, actually,” says Reda.

“They have been merciful because they don’t have the resources to help these people.”

Terrorists are still actively persecuting believers. “They are still very vengeful and evil, in the sense that they go door to door looking for Christians,” says Reza.

They are questioning people. They harden with fear.”

However, while the Taliban welcomes Christian aid workers, this leads to unexpected evangelical opportunities.

Hope remains

Almost not all groups within Afghanistan are reached, which means they cannot access the Bible. Earthquake survivors may meet Christians for the first time when they encounter the Global Catalytic Ministries team.
