5.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Lucknow; What we know so far

According to the earthquake monitoring body, the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake hit the city at 1.12 am on Saturday. It was at a depth of 82 km underground.

A moderate-intensity earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the earthquake monitoring body, the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake hit the city at 1.12 am on Saturday.

NCS said in a tweet.

The northeastern region of the city was the most affected. There were no reports of injuries or damage to property so far. However, more details are awaited about the impact of the earthquake.

The Times Now newspaper reported that the quake was felt in Lakhimpur Khiri and other areas of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The report stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was Sanushri Taratal in Nepal. Parts of China also felt the impact of the earthquake.

On Friday, light tremors were reported in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, which was hit by an earthquake at 12:55 pm. The news agency Nouakchott reported that the earthquake recorded a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale.
