JR Central plans to improve its fleet from N700Ss to 12 this fiscal year, and to 40 by 2022. The letter “S” in its name stands for “Supreme”. The 16-vehicle model has an enhanced active suspension that provides quieter and smoother driving, and a new emergency brake system.
