Vanessa Guillen’s family and friends talk about meeting President Donald Trump

HOUSTON Friends and family of Houston Army specialist Vanessa Guillen are hopeful that they will see justice and systemic change for what they call, a story of military cover-up.

Guillen, 20, was killed at Fort Hood at the hands of another accused soldier.

Just a day after his family met President Donald Trump, friends of Guillens spoke with KPRC 2 about the movement.

If we stop supporting, the movement will die and we don’t want its name forgotten, said Ashley Macias, a friend of Guillen’s.

They shouted his name loud and clear Thursday in the nation’s capital. Guillens ‘friends and family gathered for Congress to investigate Guillens’ death at Fort Hood, and then marched for justice turned out a walk to the Oval Office.

Guillens’ mother, sisters and lawyer spoke to President Trump about the I am Vanessa Guillen bill, which they hope will end what they say is a cover-up culture in the military, including including Fort Hood.

Officials said fellow soldier Aaron Robinson killed Guillen before he and Cecily Aguilar disposed of his body 20 miles near the Leon River in Bell County.
