President impressed during his participation in the celebration of National Children's Day in Papua

RM.identifier Free people – The highlight of the commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN) 2024 held at Istora Papua Bangkit, Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua was appreciated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

President Jokowi appreciated HAN 2024 which was held on a large scale and the children who participated also enjoyed it.

“This is probably the first time that the culmination of National Children's Day has been held in Papua and it was held on a large scale and the children enjoyed it. I also don't want to give a welcoming speech because this is Children's Day. A place where children can interact, play, have fun,” Jokowi said proudly.

He admitted that he was impressed by the creativity and appearance of the Papuan children. One of the performances that caught the attention of the guests was a fashion show by designers from the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) under the leadership of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN).

“We see that in the future, these children must be really prepared. Not only smart, not only intelligent, but also insightful and full of character,” Jokowi said.

Titled the traditional arts and culture show “Tanah Kitorang” featuring traditional Papuan clothing and dances. Therefore, according to Jokowi, creativity is what brings the guests' enthusiasm towards children to be very high.

This was proven by the participation of thousands of participants who took part in traditional artistic and cultural performances. Thus, the children's performance set a record for the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).

Jokowi believes that the creativity of Papuan children will become a capital for Papua to become more advanced. Jokowi advised all elements of society to support the young Papuan generation.

“These children are indeed creative. So, the Indonesian creative industry started with children, as we saw earlier. The dance is colossal and children are very emotional, yes, our DNA is there,” Jokowi said.

Meanwhile, Jhon Rettob, Regent of Mimika, confidently stated that the potential of Papuan children is extraordinary. This can be seen from a series of performances at the 2024 National Children's Day event that drew admiration from the President and guests present.

“I appreciate that Papua was chosen as the location for the culmination of National Children's Day and it turned out that representatives from all provinces were present at Istora Papua Bangkit,” he said.

It is known that the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo were also present at the 40th HAN milestone event, accompanied by Mrs. Wury Ma'ruf Amin, General Chairperson of OASE KIM, Tri Tito. Karnavian, Acting. Papua Governor Ridwan Rudalamun, and the women of the Indonesian Cabinet Era Advanced Solidarity Action Organization (OASE KIM).

Among those present were Minister of Communication and Information and member of OASE KIM's Social and Cultural Division 3, Dina Budi Arie Setiadi. The theme of HAN 2024 is “Protected Children, Advanced Indonesia.”

There are six sub-themes tailored to current and relevant children's issues: namely, Smart Children with Healthy Internet; Children's Voices Build the Nation; Pancasila in the Hearts of Indonesian Children; Dare to Lead and Speak Out: Children of Pioneers and Whistleblowers; Decent Parenting for Children: Digital Parenting; and Children Free from Violence, Child Marriage, Child Labor, and Stunting.

Among the sub-themes of HAN 2024 are smart children with healthy internet. This is part of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo)'s efforts to promote a healthy digital environment. Indonesian children are expected to understand and be able to distinguish between what is good and what is not, what can be imitated and what cannot be imitated.

In addition to preventing other negative impacts caused by the influence of the digital environment and the misuse of information and communication technologies. Examples of misuse of information and communication technologies are online gambling content (judol) and pornography.

This is why the government continues to make efforts to prepare a draft presidential regulation (Ranperpres) concerning a roadmap for the protection of children in the online domain.
