Laying of the foundation stone of Vadhvan port
One of the highlights of the visit will be the laying of the foundation stone of the building. Vadhvan Port project in Palghar, which is estimated to cost around Rs 76,000 crore.
The port is set to become one of the largest deep-sea ports in India, designed to improve maritime connectivity and strengthen India's position as a global trade hub.
The port will be able to accommodate large container ships and super-large cargo ships, significantly reducing transit times and costs. It is expected to generate many employment opportunities and boost local businesses, contributing to the overall economic development of the region.
Fisheries development initiatives
Besides the port, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation of 218 fisheries projects worth around Rs 1,560 crore.
These initiatives aim to improve infrastructure and productivity in the fishing sector, potentially creating more than 500,000 jobs.
A key element of this effort is the nationwide deployment of the Vessel Communication and Support System, which will see the installation of 100,000 transponders on fishing vessels in 13 coastal states and Union Territories.
This indigenous technology, developed by ISRO, will facilitate two-way communication for fishermen at sea, thereby improving safety and rescue operations.
World Fintech Festival 2024
The Prime Minister will also address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
The event, co-organised by the Payments Council of India and the National Payments Corporation of India, will bring together around 800 speakers from various sectors, discussing the latest innovations in fintech.
The conference will feature over 350 sessions and the launch of several thought leadership reports, providing insight into the fintech landscape.
