Another record day for new COVID-19 cases in North Carolina
Charlotte, North Carolina — Friday was the second consecutive record-breaking day for COVID-19 cases in North Carolina. The total number of known coronavirus cases increased to 241,623 on Friday, an increase of 2,684 cases. As of Friday, 21 COVID-19 clusters were reported at schools in North Carolina, and 8 active clusters were reported at the Child Care Center. DHHS defines a cluster as a case identified in five or more linked laboratories. At least 257 positive COVID-19 cases were associated with school clusters in schools from kindergarten to high school, with at least 395 positive cases and 3 deaths associated with day care centers.
