The total number of deaths has now reached 2,143.

Dublin reported the most cases today, with 150 confirmed and Wexford reporting 45. Forty cases of cork were identified, with 32 cases for Donegal and 29 cases for Limerick.

The remaining 188 cases have been found in the other 20 counties.

In the case of today;

  • 246 are male and 238 are female.
  • 59% of cases are found in people under the age of 45.
  • The median age of confirmed cases is 37 years.

The latest confirmed case and new death in Ireland was that Health Minister Stephen Donnelly told Dáíl that his conversation with today’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Dr. Holohan was “very calm.” It is due to.

Dr. Holohan told Minister Donnelly that the R rate for Covid-19 infection in Ireland is currently between 1.1 and 1.3, which means that the virus is widespread in the community.

Travel restrictions between counties within the country will be lifted tomorrow Christmas, but Donnelly warned that the coronavirus situation has become “unstable.”

Professor Philip Nolan, chair of the Irish Epidemiology Modeling Advisory Group at Nphet, said at a public health briefing tonight that he was concerned that the virus was currently in an increasing stage of growth.

The professor warned that by the second week of January, the number could surge to 700-1,200 per day.

Professor Nolan said: “Currently, reproduction numbers are estimated to be 1.1-1.3. Ireland is currently in a stage of rapid growth, with 700-1200 cases per day by the second week of January, if allowed to continue. I am concerned that this will occur.

“We are particularly concerned about the elderly and vulnerable adults who have protected themselves through the second wave and are now at risk during the holiday season.”

The CMO highlighted the changes in Covid-19 data that Nphet has been working on over the past few days as the number of cases has been reported.

Dr. Holohan said: “The 5-day moving average is 387 per day, which indicates that the disease is moving more rapidly than the previous 5-day average.

The virus is widespread throughout the country in all age groups.

The country’s chief physician urged the public to limit their contact before Christmas, saying public health experts were receiving reports of coronavirus outbreaks on social occasions.

“Currently, we are receiving reports of outbreaks in social environments such as work environments, Christmas parties, and funerals.

Now I can’t emphasize how important it is to limit your interactions.

“The consequences of not doing so will grow exponentially in January, significantly increasing hospitalization and life-threatening risks,” said Dr. Holohan.

However, Dr. Holohan did not identify a particular social situation at the Nphet briefing tonight. He didn’t want to have an example that would result in identifying the people of Covid-19.

Negative results

Nphet’s latest data on Covid-19 infections in the country follow confirmation from Taoiseach, who tested him negative for the virus. He was in close contact with French President Emmanuel Macron, who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The French presidential palace this morning confirmed that he tested positive for Covid-19.

The president said he had been tested “as soon as the first symptoms appeared.” A brief statement did not state what symptoms Macron experienced.

Micheál Martin restricted his contacts this afternoon while waiting for the results of his rapid test.

He was tested as a precautionary measure after attending the European Council with French leaders in Brussels last week.

Meanwhile, HSE Chief Paul Reid has expressed concern about the potential for “explosive formulations” that could have a significant impact after Christmas.

“We want people to look forward to Christmas, which is important for their mental health,” he told RTÉ Radio’s Morning Ireland.

The· The best Christmas gifts What the public could give to health care workers was to protect themselves and reduce the need for hospitalization.

The simple message was that we needed to reduce contacts and home visits, he said.

Reed said he was concerned about the “lag effect.” He didn’t have to reduce the relaxation of restrictions early on. It was everyone’s responsibility to modify their behavior so that it didn’t have to happen.

Although restrictions were relaxed to give people “some relief,” the general public needed to continue to take measures such as wearing masks, washing hands, and social distance.

Reed also said the HSE has provided Northern Ireland with as much support as possible and is closely monitoring the situation there.

Answering questions about the possibility of closing the school until after Christmas this week Numerous outbreaks at school, Reed said keeping the school open is important for the well-being of children.

The positive rate at school was much lower than in the community, so they had to stay open, he said.
