CVS launches coronavirus vaccination at a nursing home in Geneva
Geneva, Illinois — Residents and staff at a long-term care facility in Illinois will begin the first round of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccination on Monday.
Earlier this month, CVS Health was selected by the US Department of Health and Human Services as one of two providers to manage coronavirus vaccination.
The CVS Pharmacy team will deliver the Pfizer vaccine for the first time at facilities in 12 states. Through this program, the company plans to vaccinate up to 4 million residents and staff in more than 40,000 long-term care facilities.

“Today’s development is the culmination of months of internal planning and shows how the private sector can use its expertise to solve some of the most important challenges.” Larry J. The CVS pharmacy team will visit each care facility three times to ensure that residents and staff receive their first shot and critical booster. The majority of residents and staff will be fully vaccinated 3-4 weeks after their first visit, depending on the vaccine they receive. CVS will complete vaccinations for long-term care facilities in about 12 weeks.
