Kildare Nationalist – Naas sends earthquake relief supplies to Croatia: You can help

An aid container for people affected by the recent earthquake in Croatia will leave Naas on Wednesday 27 January.

Anyone wishing to make a donation or support the relief operation is asked to hand over some items to Naas Mens Shed on Monday or Tuesday morning tomorrow.

“The Mayor of Nass, its elected members and the Nass City team made up of a group of local companies and organizations organized a 45-foot container to transport non-perishable goods, construction clothing, site construction tools and equipment to Croatia,” the group.

The 45-foot-high container will be destined for Petringa, a town in Croatia with residents similar to people, which was badly damaged three weeks ago by two earthquakes. The second, which took place on December 29, was especially powerful. The city has close association with Nass as both cities were part of the European Union funded URBACT project.

Among the required goods and equipment:

• Aluminum ladders extendable up to 11 meters.

• 3.5 to 6 kVA generators, expert saws. Power tools, drills, nail guns, rechargeable type and adapters

• Canned foods, soups, pasta, spreads, sugar, salt, flour, instant coffee, desserts.

• Feminine hygiene products, nappies and incontinence pads.

• shampoo, soap and deodorants.

• Towels and bed linen.

The organizers also hope to raise € 10,000 in financial support. So far, 5,840 euros have been raised through the Go Fund Me page.
