Guinea reports 8 Ebola cases, including 3 deaths
Conakry (Reuters)-Eight people were Ebola-positive in southeastern Guinea, three of whom died, Guinea’s health officials said.
After attending the burial of the Gueke branch, they became ill with diarrhea, vomiting and bleeding. The state health security agency ANSS said on Sunday that all eight were positive for the virus and five were quarantined at the treatment center as still alive.
The last outbreak of Ebola in West Africa is believed to have started in Guinea. The majority of cases occurred in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, killing at least 11,300 people.
According to ANSS, a second test is being conducted to confirm the diagnosis, and healthcare professionals are working to track and isolate case contact.
