Outbreak of COVID-19 declared in the unit of Kelowna General Hospital
Outbreaks of COVID-19 were declared in one unit at Kelowna General Hospital after staff and patients were tested positive for the virus.
In a statement, Interior Health said the outbreak affected unit 5B in the hospital and there was no evidence that the virus had spread to other areas of the hospital.

Health officials added that outbreak measures are in place and hospitals can be safely visited for appointments and emergency care.
Patients and visitors do not need to be tested or self-quarantined after visiting the hospital.
British Columbia health officials announced a surge in new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, adding 634 to the count in the last 24 hours. Four more died of the disease.
Interior health to open a call center for vaccinations on Monday
Interior Health has announced that it will open a call center on Monday for seniors who are considering booking the COVID-19 vaccine.
People over 90 and indigenous people over 65 can make a reservation by calling 1-877-740-7747.
The call center is open 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm. Vaccinations will begin as early as March 15th.
BC’s largest vaccination campaign in history aims to vaccinate more than 4 million British Columbia citizens with COVID-19 by September 2021.
