84 high-risk contacts, 7 COVID-19 variant cases linked to Vaughn Nail Salon
York Region Public Health says it issued a public notice because the company wasn’t tracking patrons as needed.
According to the York Region Public Health, at least 84 high-risk contacts and 7 employees in COVID-19 variant cases were associated with outbreaks at Vaughn Nail Salons who were not tracking patrons as needed. I will.
The Public Health Unit issued a public notice tonight at Anthony’s on 8099 Weston Rd to warn Nails patrons. Patrick Casey, a spokesman for the York region, said that if he attended the salon from March 23 to 26, he would have to quarantine himself for 14 days.
According to Casey, public health identified 84 high-risk contacts, and 7 out of 8 staff members were identified with variants of the case of concern working during infectious disease.
“The salon didn’t maintain a good patronage list and didn’t keep track of each client’s service type or the name of the staff who provided the service,” said Casey. “Without a proper patron list, public health remains difficult to identify high-risk contacts, and as a result, public notice is required.”
As of April 8, four York area residents and three Toronto residents have been identified with COVID-19.
Regular customers should carefully monitor the signs and symptoms of the virus and take tests if symptoms occur.
The salon closed at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 26th.
Public health in the York area is continuing to investigate the outbreak.
