Disney to shut down Hotstar in US, Hulu and ESPN + for content boost – The Hollywood Reporter
Disney + Hotstar joins the Disney streaming package as the service prepares to shut down as a stand-alone platform in the United States at the end of 2022, Disney said Tuesday.
The content available on Hotstar will be split between Hulu and ESPN +. Bollywood and South Asian movies including Hotstar specials like The Empire, Aarya, Criminal Justice and Dil Bechara, will head to Hulu. The cricket matches, which remain the most watched content on Hotstar, from the Indian Premier League, the International Cricket Council T20 Men’s World Cup and the Board of Control for Cricket will be streamed live on ESPN +.
Disney + will remain unchanged and will not take over any programming from Hotstar at this time, Disney said.
