KGNS+ successfully organizes prom dress campaign

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – KGNS+ Original Podcast, POPULAR. Off the clockheld a prom dress drive on Monday, April 22 to help local public schools like Laredo ISD and United ISD, and it was a success!

Residents were instrumental in helping young men and women prepare for cherished traditions like prom and graduation.

Throughout the day, donations poured into the KKGNS studios, including prom dresses, suits, ties and accessories, providing valuable support to students who would otherwise struggle to afford clothing for these important events.

Veronica Castillon, executive director of communications at Laredo ISD, said the donations light up the faces of the children who receive them.

They come in a little shy once they start seeing the dresses and they look at them and start trying them on and they leave with their dress so excited with a little sparkle in their eyes and a little more jump in their walk and so they are very happy to have found the dress that they are going to wear on prom night, Castillon shared.

Today was the only collection day for KKGNS+, but those interested in contributing are encouraged to contact local school districts to inquire about donation drop-off locations.
