Vancouver fashion designers score big with Canucks partnership
A trio of Vancouver fashion designers are celebrating the successes of their recent partnerships, but they say they've only just begun to “bring a new mindset to an old industry.”
Marcus Quon, Graham Hood and Austin Ottone are the brains behind Basico Branco, a high-end sustainable clothing wholesale company launching in September.
The founders are working hard to fill a niche in the fashion market and are currently working on their third collaboration with the Vancouver Canucks.
“Basico Branco offers premium, unique blank clothing with sustainability as the top priority,” Quon told Daily Hive. “We offer retail-worthy products to the wholesale market while striving for sustainability without compromise.”
“After years in the industry, we realized there was a huge gap in the market. No one was offering high-end blanks that the Earth wasn’t paying a premium price for. So we launched Basico Branco.”
Their experience led them to an important collaboration with the Vancouver Canucks which will begin in 2023.
“The Canucks initially approached us to help them design their new iconic black jersey,” Quon says. “They came to us to help us connect with the next generation, not just Canucks fans, but humans in general.”
“We first managed to capture this idea through design, incorporating streetwear and culture into our graphics. They quickly understood the importance of sustainability, which led to a long-term, ongoing partnership rather than a one-off collaboration.”
Basico Branco's Canucks collection was a huge success with fan favorite pieces on sale in just a few months. Limited items are still available in the Team Store and via the online store.
“We make it easy for partners like the Canucks,” Hood said. “We provide them with designs, pricing, pre-production samples, production and door-to-door fulfillment. All they have to do is approve and place their order. The rest is up to us.”

Sustainability is important to Basico Branco's ethos, which uses 100% organic cotton materials for all products.
