Islamabad: Attacking the Pakistani government led by Shehbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, said on Saturday that no one can stop “Naya Pakistan”. He was addressing a public rally of his party at the Parade Ground in Islamabad against inflation, political destabilization, excessive load shedding and the continued rise in fuel prices. The former prime minister said the nation calls corrupt leaders thieves and traitors, adding that they have the backing of “arbiters” and are determined to destroy the morals of society.

“The nation calls them thieves and traitors wherever they go and the referees are also on their side. Despite the referees, the nation is not with them and we will have to defeat them. No one can stop Naya Pakistan,” said reported The News International citing Khan. “These thieves also want to destroy the morality of society, removing the distinction between good and evil,” he added.

Imran Khan has warned workers and party supporters to beware of rigging in Punjab’s upcoming elections as “the arbiters” side with the government led by Shehbaz Sharif. The PTI president said they had to win the election despite having “referees” with the government. He questioned the institutions on how they imposed themselves, adding that they destroyed the country and failed to cope with rising inflation.

“I ask the institutions when you install thieves on the national treasury, the country is destroyed. They have nothing to do with inflation. They came to power to forgive themselves and give themselves NRO-2 and make their corruption cases. Hadn’t the Supreme Court taken a suo moto opinion on how it enacted amendments to the NAB Act, it would have buried it,” Khan said.

Khan further mentioned that his life and death is linked to Pakistan unlike the corrupt rulers. “If they hadn’t been shelling and beating people with truncheons and raiding their houses, a tide of people like today would have come. People were furious with the police and the Rangers and if I had opted for a sit-in that day, the country would have slipped into anarchy, which I would never want because my life and death is tied to Pakistan unlike the corrupt rulers,” said he added.

Khan had announced the protest rally last Saturday, saying the protest would be held for residents of Islamabad and those of Rawalpindi, while residents of other major cities would stage their own local protests, according to local media.
