PM Modi to visit Maharashtra on August 30 to lay foundation stone of Vadhvan Port and address Global Fintech Fest

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on Friday where he will address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 in Mumbai and lay the foundation stone for the Rs 76,000-crore Vadhvan Port project in Palghar, his office said. PM Modi will address the GFF 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai at 11 am and then around 1.30 pm, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects at CIDCO grounds in Palghar, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.

Vadhvan Port aims to establish a world-class maritime gateway that will boost the country's trade and economic growth by accommodating large container ships, offering deeper drafts and accommodating ultra-large cargo vessels.

Vadhvan Port, located near Dahanu town in Palghar district, will be one of the largest deep-sea ports in India and will provide direct connectivity to international shipping routes, thereby reducing transit time and costs, the statement said.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure, the port will feature deep berths, efficient cargo handling facilities and modern port management systems, he said.

The port is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, boost local businesses and contribute to the overall economic development of the region, he said.

The Vadhvan Port project incorporates sustainable development practices, with emphasis on minimising environmental impact and adhering to strict green standards. Once operational, the port will enhance India's maritime connectivity and further strengthen its position as a global trade hub, the statement said. Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 218 fisheries projects worth around Rs 1,560 crore, aimed at boosting infrastructure and productivity in the sector across the country.

These initiatives are expected to generate more than five hundred thousand job opportunities in the fisheries sector, he said.

It will also launch the nationwide deployment of Vessel Communication and Support System at a cost of around Rs 360 crore. Under this project, one lakh transponders will be installed in a phased manner on mechanised and motorised fishing boats in 13 coastal states and union territories.

The Vessel Communication and Support System is an indigenous technology developed by ISRO, which will help in establishing two-way communication while the fishermen are at sea and will also help in rescue operations as well as ensure the safety of our fishermen, the statement said.

Other initiatives to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister include development of integrated fishing ports and water parks as well as adoption of advanced technologies such as recirculating aquaculture system and biofloc.

These projects will be implemented in several states and will provide critical infrastructure and high-quality inputs to enhance fish production, improve post-harvest management and create sustainable livelihoods for millions of people involved in the fisheries sector, the statement said.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for major fisheries infrastructure projects, including the development, modernisation and upgrading of fishing ports, fish landing centres and the construction of fish markets.

This should provide the necessary facilities and hygiene conditions for the post-harvest management of fish and seafood.

The GFF is jointly organised by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India and the Fintech Convergence Council. Around 800 speakers including policymakers, regulators, top bankers, business leaders and academics from India and various other countries will address over 350 sessions at the conference.

GFF 2024 will also showcase the latest innovations in the fintech sector. More than 20 thought leadership reports and white papers will be launched, providing in-depth insights and perspectives on the sector.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
