ECP summons Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif on November 5

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned two former prime ministers, Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan, citing cases related to electoral conduct, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

According to the ECP docket published on Friday, hearings for the cases concerning the two politicians are set for November 5.

PML-N President Nawaz Sharif ten days ago submitted a reference to the Speaker of the National Assembly against MP Adil Bazai for not voting on the 26th constitutional amendment in favor of the PML's position -N.

NA President Ayaz Sadiq wrote a letter to the ECP, demanding disqualification of Bazai and declaring his seat vacant under Article 63-A, which concerns the defection clause, emphasizing on strictly following party lines during crucial parliamentary votes.

Bazai was absent from the session and did not vote during the vote for 26 constitutional amendments on October 21. He had initially joined the PML-N before joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Acting on the request of Ayaz Sadiq, the ECP issued a notice to Nawaz Sharif, fixing a hearing on November 5 to respond to his request.

The ECP also summoned the PTI founder in a contempt case. This case involves allegations of disrespect and contempt for the authority of the ECP.
