Favorable views of Donald Trump diving two -digit in Dark Red Texas

Favorable opinions on President Donald Trump fell 15 percentage points in Texas, a solid republican state democrat hoped for a long time, according to a new survey published on Thursday.

Why it matters

Texas for decades has been one of the country's most conservative states, the last vote for a democratic presidential ticket in 1976. Throughout the 2010s, it derived from Democrats while the Republicans lost voters in the suburban areas around Austin, Dallas and Houston.

But in 2024, he remained firmly returned to the Republicans, Trump won almost 14 points. This was partly due to his strength with Hispanic voters in the border counties of South Texas, who were once democratic bastions which overthrew him.

Texas, with its 40 votes from the electoral college, become competitive for the Democrats would upset the policy if this happens in the next electoral cycles. However, the 2024 results questioned if it will in fact become a state of battlefield in the near future.

A new survey of the Survey Texas Public Opinion Research (TPOR) suggests that Trump's favorability in Texas decreases, because it has the national level in the midst of increasing concerns concerning the economy and prices.

His favorability in the last survey is -3, with 50% of Texans considering it unfavorably against 47% who consider it favorably. This is down compared to a positive favorability rating after the November presidential election.

This is equivalent to a change of 15 points by the Republican President.

The survey also revealed that national conservative personalities such as vice-president JD Vance and billionaire Elon Musk, who heads the government's ministry (DOGE), are under three points and 10 points respectively.

Senator John Cornyn, a republican for re -election in 2026, has a favorability side of -22, with only 21% of respondents saying that they saw him favorably. The Attorney General Ken Paxton, floated as a Primary Conservative Challenger potential of Cornyn, has a favorability rating of -5.

Conversely, the former democratic representative Colin Allred has a favorability rating of +7. He challenged the Senator of the Gop Ted Cruz in the race for the Senate last year. Although he lost 8.4 points, he notably succeeded better than vice-president Kamala Harris in the state of the Southwest.
