Trump visits China, votes on Sara Duterte impeachment and SoftBank results

Welcome to your week in Asia.

The biggest Asian event this week is US President Donald Trump’s visit to China and meeting with President Xi Jinping. The US delegation, whose visit was delayed for several weeks due to the US-Israeli war against Iran launched in late February, is expected to include US executives from the technology and financial sectors.

But there are other notable events in Asia, including the Philippine parliamentary vote on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, the transfer of Thaksin Shinawatra from prison to house arrest in Thailand, the visit of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to Japan and the results of major technology companies.
