Minister Nadiem Makarim is a good person

SOLO, KOMPAS.com – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) considers the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, to be a good person.

Jokowi made the statement in response to Nadiem mentioning his name during the trial for alleged corruption in the purchase of Chromebook laptops at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

“Yes, I know the minister Nadiem Makarim good people,” Jokowi said during his meeting in Sumber, SoloCentral Java, Wednesday (3/6/2026).

All policies are led by the president

Not only during the trial, Nadiem also expressed his respect to the presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, including Jokowi in his plea.

“Yes, it is a legal procedure,” he said.

Jokowi said all policies implemented by ministers were led by the president.

“Yes, all policies, all programs come from the president,” he added.

Previously, Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim expressed his gratitude to the Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia when reading the plea at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Tuesday (02/06/2026).

Nadiem expressed his respects to President Prabowo Subianto, the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodothe 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri.

“Thanks to the democratic heritage for which they fought, today I can appear before His Excellency the College of Judges to present my defense as a citizen. A right which is one of the most precious pillars of the Republic that we all love,” he said.

Nadiem also thanked the community who participated in the trial and provided support.
