IDX Channel – President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the shrimp harvest in the Modern Zonal Shrimp Farming Pond Area (BUBK) in Tegalretno Village, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, Saturday (5/23/2026).
On this occasion, Prabowo also tried to pull the harvest net with fishermen cultivating shrimp ponds.
When he arrived at the pond, Prabowo took the time to chat with the pond fishermen about the shrimp farming that was developing in the area. The atmosphere was warm as farmers demonstrated the harvesting process in front of the President.
A farmer then throws a net into the pond to catch the shrimp. The catches began to appear and Prabowo applauded the harvesting process.
Soon after, a number of fish farmers began removing nets from ponds containing the harvested shrimp. Prabowo was later seen helping to pull the net with Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and fishermen.
Excitedly, Prabowo pulled the net until the harvested shrimp came to the surface. He seemed excited to see abundant large shrimp. Prabowo then raised the shrimp crop with the fish farmers.
In his speech, Prabowo stressed that his government would pursue productive development that could create jobs, increase state revenue and meet the food needs of the population.
Currently, a similar larger-scale project is planned in Waingapu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“We will build productive projects that will produce protein for our people, also to sell abroad to earn foreign exchange. I believe that in the coming months we will accelerate the process of productive development,” Prabowo said.
BUBK Kebumen was inaugurated on March 9, 2023 and achieved its first harvest on June 26, 2023. To date, BUBK Kebumen is conducting its eighth cultivation cycle with 139 production ponds operating optimally.
This is Prabowo’s second time visiting BUBK Kebumen. Previously, Prabowo arrived in this region when he was still Minister of Defense in the cabinet of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
