JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Esa Unggul University political communication observer M Jamiluddin Ritonga believes that the plan of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), to travel to Indonesia again will not easily produce a great political impact like when Jokowi was still head of state.

Jamiluddin also believes that Jokowi is currently not as great as when he was president.

Jamiluddin believed that some fanatical supporters of Jokowi began to become disillusioned during his rule, so that political support for the former DKI Jakarta governor was no longer strong.
“Many of his fanatical supporters were disappointed when Jokowi was president. They generally rejected Jokowi and distanced themselves,” he said.
Despite this, Jamiluddin believes Jokowi still has a loyal group of supporters.
However, the amount is not considered large enough to achieve certain policy objectives.
Jamiluddin said one of Jokowi’s political goals in traveling across Indonesia would have been to show that he still had a strong mass base in various regions.
According to him, this could be a political signal to political parties that Jokowi still has electoral influence and negotiating power at the national level.

Aside from that, Jokowi would also like to increase the electability of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) so that it can achieve better results in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“This must be done so that PSI can enter Senayan in the next parliamentary elections,” he said.
He added that increasing the position of PSI was also considered important to strengthen it. negotiation policy ahead of the 2029 presidential election, including the possibility of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka once again accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in the next period.
Even though this opportunity is not considered easy, Jamiluddin said the steps taken by Jokowi were still reasonable in an effort to maintain his political influence.
“But it’s called business, it’s completely natural that Jokowi tries it. Who knows, maybe he will be lucky so that we can still count on Jokowi on the national political scene,” he concluded.
As previously reported, Jokowi admitted that he was in good health and was preparing to respond to public invitations in various regions.

Jokowi made this statement in response to reporters’ questions regarding his plans to visit the region with PSI and Projo at Sumber’s Residence, Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java, Monday (24/5/2026).
