JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The suspect in the alleged fake diploma case of the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Roy Suryo, believes that the case against him is no longer relevant to move to step 21. According to Roy Suryo, the police’s handling of the case took too long.
Roy Suryo also compared his legal treatment with the case of former National Police Propam Division head Ferdy Sambo and the Jessica Wongso cyanide coffee case.
This was said by Roy Suryo reported by Kompas TV journalist Rennata Pricilla Panggalo, Friday (29/5/2026).
“Well, and if we compare, it was calculated, what was a very busy affair, why was it famous at that time? Namely Ferdy Sambo, Ferdy Sambo, from the time the LP was made it was July 8, 2022, then when P21 happened it was September 28, 2022. The total time for a very exciting affair like that was 72 days. It was for the Ferdy Sambo case,” Roy said.

“Well, this case, a case that was reported on April 30, 2025. Until today, until May 30, 2026, it has been 396 days. That means it has been more than a year and 30 days since the LP was made.”
The position of suspect Roy Suryo is currently still being delegated or P19 between investigators from Polda Metro Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Attorney General’s Office.
Meanwhile, Roy Suryo has been named a suspect for allegedly spreading accusatory narratives in the digital space. Along with several others, Roy Suryo was charged with several sections, including Sections 310 and 311 of the Penal Code relating to defamation, as well as several sections of the ITE Act relating to dissemination of false information to incite the public.

Based on these allegations, the police then banned Roy Suryo from traveling abroad. However, Roy Suryo was not arrested because he was cooperative and presented witnesses and experts to relieve him.
