SOLO, JOGLOSÉMARNEWS.COM – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has finally spoken out on his name which was mentioned several times during the trial of the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Makarim.

When met at his residence in Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, Wednesday (6/3/2026), Jokowi chose to give a brief response regarding the figure of his former assistant.

“Yes, as far as I know, Minister Nadiem Makarim is a good person,” Jokowi said.

However, Jokowi stressed that he respected all ongoing legal proceedings. He did not wish to make additional comments on the merits of the case which currently interests Nadiem.

“Yes, it is a legal procedure,” he said.

Previously, in his plea during the trial, Nadiem Makarim expressed his thanks to a number of parties, including the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo who trusted him to lead the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Responding to questions regarding the laptop procurement program that would be part of the education digitalization program, Jokowi stressed that all policies and programs implemented by ministers were essentially part of the president’s direction.

“Yes, all policies, all programs, everything comes from the President,” he stressed.

Jokowi again emphasized that the legal process related to this case is entirely under the authority of law enforcement and must be respected by all parties. [Ando]
