JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), felt insulted after being accused of having a fake baccalaureate (S1).
This was revealed during the hearing of the indictment against the accused Tifauzia Tyassuma or Doctor Tifa linked to the defamation case following accusations of false diplomas of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
“As a result of the defendant’s actions, witness Joko Widodo suffered immaterial losses, namely that witness Joko Widodo’s reputation was personally tarnished and felt that he was insulted at the highest level and degraded at the lowest level,” said the prosecutor when reading the indictment at the East Jakarta District Court, Thursday (2/7/2026).

During the trial, it was also revealed that a number of parties accused Jokowi of using fake diplomas to fulfill the conditions for appointment to the post of regional head of the president.
“There are parties who accuse witness Joko Widodo of using fake diplomas to fulfill the requirements for candidacy as a former public official, namely the Mayor of Solo, the Governor of DKI Jakarta and the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia,” the prosecutor said.
The case began on March 26, 2025 when Jokowi’s aide Syarif Muhammad informed and showed a number of social media posts that allegedly defamed Jokowi.
“The social media posts consist of two YouTube videos and one social media post.
Of the three uploads Jokowi saw, one of them was an upload of Doctor Tifa via the X account @DokterTifa.
In the upload, the accused conveyed a number of alleged irregularities in Jokowi’s undergraduate degree, from the diploma cover, graduation photo, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) alumni book, to Jokowi’s statement calling Professor Achmad Soemitro his supervisor.
Then Jokowi asked his aide to record a number of messages circulating on social media regarding alleged attacks on his reputation.

“Of the 28 social media posts seen by witness Joko Widodo, there were five social media posts containing the defendant’s actions that essentially accused Joko Widodo’s license certificate of being fake,” the prosecutor said.
In the indictment, Jokowi was listed as a student at the UGM Faculty of Forestry, enrolled on July 28, 1980.
The UGM also allegedly issued a bachelor’s degree in forestry number 1120 dated November 5, 1985.
This was also confirmed by UGM, according to academic data.
However, the accused still alleged that Jokowi’s bachelor’s degree was fake through social media posts.
