Minutewomen make their way through Fordham in A-10 Championship Opener
The Minutewomen showed their power early and often, using four home runs from three different players to secure their first win in the A-10 tournament since 2019. Massachusetts struck first with a two-run home run off the bat of Sarah Keagy made it 2-0 Minutewomen. Keagy made back-to-back at-bats with a home run, this time with a three-run explosion to make it 5-1 in the top of the fourth. The Minutewomen used two more large flies, this time from Jordyn Graeme And Chloe Whittier to take a commanding 8-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning. The Rams got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but were unable to make the necessary rally, allowing UMass to secure the tournament opener in the Bronx.
General Sarah Keagy went 2-for-3 at the plate with two home runs, five RBI and a walk. The performance marks her second two-home run game of the season, both against Fordham.
Sophomore Julianne Bolton made her 25th start of the season, striking out four while allowing just two earned runs in a complete 7.0-inning game. The appearance marks her 14th full game of the 2024 campaign and first-ever postseason win.
